Hi-Vis Recycled Polyester Fleece Jacket | EC70

Choose the right branding technique for your workwear, uniforms and team clothing. At Crew Blank, we help businesses select the best method for each garment — from embroidered workwear and printed workwear to DTF and transfer applications. The right technique depends on the product, material, logo design, durability requirements and order size.

We work with embroidery, screen printing, DTF and heat transfer across our garment catalogue. Before any production begins, we confirm technique compatibility for each product and prepare a digital mockup for your approval.

Embroidered Workwear

Embroidered workwear is the most durable and professional way to add your logo to uniforms, polo shirts, work jackets, softshells, fleeces and selected workwear garments. It is the preferred choice for businesses that want a high-quality finish, long-lasting branding and a consistent appearance across their team clothing.

Unlike printing, embroidery stitches the logo directly into the fabric using thread. The result is a raised, textured finish that holds its appearance through repeated washing, outdoor use and daily wear in professional environments. Where a printed logo may fade or crack over time, an embroidered logo maintains its quality throughout the life of the garment.

When embroidery is the right choice

Embroidery works best for logos with moderate detail and a limited number of colours, applied to garments washed and used regularly in professional environments. It is particularly well suited to polo shirts, work jackets, softshell jackets, sweatshirts, fleeces and shirts. Embroidery is especially recommended for:

• Corporate workwear teams — polo shirts, softshells and jackets
• Hospitality teams — polo shirts, shirts, chef jackets and aprons
• Front-of-house and reception staff requiring a premium branded finish
• Site managers and supervisors — work jackets and softshell jackets
• Any uniform order where durability and professional appearance are the priority

Best garments for embroidered logos

• Polo shirts — left chest or sleeve placement, standard for corporate and hospitality teams
• Softshell jackets — chest or back placement for a clean, professional finish
• Work jackets — chest, back or sleeve, depending on the garment and design
• Sweatshirts and hoodies — left chest for a subtle, professional look
• Fleeces — left chest or back panel
• Shirts and tunics — chest placement, common for hospitality and corporate use
• Aprons — upper chest section for front-of-house and kitchen teams
• Chef jackets — chest placement, standard for kitchen team branding

Embroidery for polos, jackets and softshells

Polo shirts with embroidered logos are one of the most requested configurations across our corporate and hospitality clients. The left chest position is standard for company logo placement, with sleeve embroidery as a secondary option for additional brand visibility. Softshell jackets and work jackets offer larger embroidery areas and are commonly used for manager-level, outdoor or customer-facing roles where a durable and professional finish matters most.

Embroidered softshells are particularly popular for construction site managers, hospitality supervisors, corporate events and any environment where garments are worn in front of guests or clients. The embroidery holds well on structured workwear fabrics and maintains its quality through repeated washing cycles.

When embroidery may not be the best option

For logos with very fine detail, gradients, a large number of colours or intricate artwork, embroidery may not reproduce the design accurately — DTF or printing may give a better result. Embroidery is also not recommended for very lightweight, technical or stretch fabrics, and is not available for certified PPE garments where decoration could affect product compliance.

If you are unsure whether your logo is suitable for embroidery, include your file when you request a quote and we will confirm compatibility before any commitment to production.

Printed Workwear

Printed workwear uses ink applied to the garment surface. It is particularly well suited to designs with large surface areas, many colours or complex artwork that cannot be accurately replicated with embroidery. It is also the recommended option when the design covers a large back area or includes gradients, photography-style elements or fine detail.

Screen printing

Screen printing applies ink through a stencil directly onto the garment. It is cost-effective for larger quantities with consistent designs, and works especially well on t-shirts, hoodies and promotional garments where a bold, flat graphic is the primary requirement. It is most economical when the same design is applied to a significant quantity in a single production run.

When printing is the right choice

• The design includes many colours or complex artwork
• The garment is a t-shirt, hoodie or promotional item
• A large back print or full-width design is required
• The order quantity supports the screen printing setup process
• The garment material is not suitable for embroidery

DTF Printing

DTF (Direct to Film) printing produces a full-colour transfer applied to the garment using a heat press. It allows for highly detailed, multi-colour designs without the colour limitations of screen printing and without the fabric restrictions that apply to embroidery.

DTF is suitable for designs that include gradients, fine detail or a large number of colours, and works across a range of fabric types including cotton, polyester blends and selected technical materials.

When DTF makes sense

DTF is recommended when the logo includes multiple colours, gradients or fine detail that cannot be reproduced accurately with embroidery, and when the order size does not justify a full screen printing run. It is also useful for garments where embroidery would affect the material performance or drape.

Transfer Printing

Heat transfer printing applies a pre-printed graphic to the garment surface using heat and pressure. It is used for specific applications — short-run jobs, certain product types or situations where other techniques are not compatible with the garment material or construction. Suitability is confirmed during the quote review process based on the product, the design and the intended use.

Embroidery vs Printing: Which Should You Choose?

The right technique depends on the garment, the logo design, the order quantity and the intended use. There is no single answer that applies to every project — the best results come from matching the technique to the specific requirements of each order.

Choose embroidery when:

• The logo has moderate detail and a limited number of colours
• The garment will be washed and used regularly in a professional environment
• A premium, durable and tactile finish is required
• The application is a polo shirt, jacket, softshell, shirt, fleece or apron
• Longevity and consistency across a team are priorities

Choose printing or DTF when:

• The design includes many colours, gradients or fine detail
• The garment is a t-shirt, hoodie or promotional item
• A large print area — such as a full back design — is required
• The order quantity supports a screen printing run
• The fabric type is not suitable for embroidery

If you are unsure, include your logo file when you request a quote. We will review the design, the garment and the intended use, and recommend the most suitable option before any commitment to production.

Branding Compatibility by Product Type

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you prepare a digital mockup before production?

Yes. Every personalised order includes a digital mockup for your approval. No production begins until you have confirmed the layout and design.

What file format do I need for my logo?

Preferred formats:

• PDF, AI or SVG — vector formats, ideal for all techniques
• PNG at 300 dpi minimum — accepted when vector files are not available

Can all garments be personalised?

Most workwear garments in our catalogue are compatible with embroidery or printing. Technical PPE — helmets, gloves, safety footwear, fall protection and respiratory protection — cannot be branded. We confirm compatibility for each product before production.

Is embroidery more expensive than printing?

Embroidery typically involves a digitisation setup cost and a per-garment stitching cost based on the size and complexity of the logo. For large quantities, screen printing can be more cost-effective. For smaller runs or detailed logos, DTF is often the most practical option. Full pricing is included in every quote we prepare.

What is the minimum order for branded workwear?

Minimum order quantities vary by product and technique. Use the quote form to describe your project and we will confirm minimums and pricing before you commit to production.

How long does branded workwear production take?

Production time depends on the technique, quantity and product availability. We confirm exact lead times in the quote before production begins, so you always know the timeline upfront.

Can hi-vis garments be branded?

Selected hi-vis garments may be suitable for embroidery or printing depending on the product type, certification requirements and intended use. We confirm compatibility for each hi-vis product individually before production to ensure safety standards are not affected.
