When embroidery may not be the best option

Printed Workwear

Printed workwear uses ink applied to the garment surface. It is particularly well suited to designs with large surface areas, many colours or complex artwork that cannot be accurately replicated with embroidery. It is also the recommended option when the design covers a large back area or includes gradients, photography-style elements or fine detail.

Screen printing

Screen printing applies ink through a stencil directly onto the garment. It is cost-effective for larger quantities with consistent designs, and works especially well on t-shirts, hoodies and promotional garments where a bold, flat graphic is the primary requirement. It is most economical when the same design is applied to a significant quantity in a single production run.

When printing is the right choice

• The design includes many colours or complex artwork
• The garment is a t-shirt, hoodie or promotional item
• A large back print or full-width design is required
• The order quantity supports the screen printing setup process
• The garment material is not suitable for embroidery

DTF Printing

DTF (Direct to Film) printing produces a full-colour transfer applied to the garment using a heat press. It allows for highly detailed, multi-colour designs without the colour limitations of screen printing and without the fabric restrictions that apply to embroidery.

DTF is suitable for designs that include gradients, fine detail or a large number of colours, and works across a range of fabric types including cotton, polyester blends and selected technical materials.

When DTF makes sense

DTF is recommended when the logo includes multiple colours, gradients or fine detail that cannot be reproduced accurately with embroidery, and when the order size does not justify a full screen printing run. It is also useful for garments where embroidery would affect the material performance or drape.

Transfer Printing

Heat transfer printing applies a pre-printed graphic to the garment surface using heat and pressure. It is used for specific applications — short-run jobs, certain product types or situations where other techniques are not compatible with the garment material or construction. Suitability is confirmed during the quote review process based on the product, the design and the intended use.
